I lie in bed, my eyes searching for
Something to catch hold of in this
Darkest of night.
With nothing to see on their own they
Create things, shadows that dance
In their own element, their
Inky claws pulling at my heart
As it pounds in fear, trying to
Escape from the horrifying
Thoughts my mind has created
In this darkness to keep itself
Occupied, as sleep does not come
Easily for ones such as myself.
I lie, helpless--frightened by the
Phantom goblins in my mind,
With no hope for sleep, and
No hope of a reprieve from this
Everlasting torment.
