Grifter

Grifter is not having a good day. His teammates, the WildC.A.T.s, have joined forces with their worst enemy, leaving him no choice but to quit the team. At the same time, he must warn his friend Michael Cray (Deathblow of the disbanded Team 7) that alien forces are after part of an artifact he'd picked up years earlier. Before they can finish the conversation, a missile destroys the phone booth and sends Grifter flying. Hiding in an alley to narrow for his airborne attackers to follow, he pulls a large shard of glass out of his gut and starts having flashbacks as he loses blood. His mask saves him from the sleep gas his attackers use to flush him out, allowing him to catch them off-guard and take several out as he dashes for the better cover of a nearby park . . . where some punk tries to mug him . . . only to be grabbed into the air by Grifter's attackers. He is able to free the punk before he passes out again . . . only to be awakened by the by a sharp blow to the head.
